260 Drug Traffickers Convicted of Smuggling Narcotics By CJTF

Jalalabad-Afghanistan: Within the fist six month of Islamic year 1388, 237 suspects faced investigation by CJTF Investigation and Laboratory Department. The Primary court convicted 177 people on drug trafficking offences; the Appeal Court convicted 260 people. And total acquittals from both courts are 59. The total quantities of seized drugs along with their cases were sent to the CJTF Investigation and Laboratory dept within the last six months, are as follows:

A key component of the Government of Afghanistan's National Drug Control Strategy is to target drug trafficking networks. To this end, the Government of Afghanistan set up the Criminal Justice Task Force (CJTF) in May 2005 with the objective of prosecuting serious drug trafficking offences across the country.
